Electronics and Communication Engineering Labs
Communication Lab
This laboratory covers analog and digital communications and Microwave and Optical Communications laboratories. The Analog modulated signal transmission and detection is studied in Analog Communication lab. Here we observe different modulated wave forms obtained from the respective modulation techniques (AM,FM etc) on a practical note. We will also observe the performance characteristics of pulse digital modulation techniques and also some emphasizing circuits Normally electrical signals will be in the analog form. Digital communication involves Transmission of information from source to destination in the digital form. This requires conversion of analog signals into digital form. This Lab has 12 experiments of Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) come under the category of Analog Pulse Modulation Techniques. Pulse Code Modulation (PCM), Delta Modulation (DM) and Diffential Pulse code Modulation (DPCM) come under Digital Modulation Techniques. Frequency Shift Keying (FSK), Phase Shift Keying (PSK) and differential Phase Shift Keying (DPSK) come under Digital carrier modulation Techniques.SOURCE encoder and decoder(SE&D),convolution encoder and decoder(CE&D),binary cyclice codes(BCC), linear block codes(LBC), companding comes under channel coding techniques. After performing the experiments, the student will acquire sufficient knowledge to convert Analog Signals into Digital form by the techniques indicated. At the end of each experiment questions are included which will help the students to consolidate his/her ideas

IC Applications lab
The Linear IC Applications lab is intended to perform the experiments related to Linear IC's such as 741 OP AMP, 555 Timer , 565 PLL, 566 VCO ,etc., After completion of this lab, students will get exposure bout the function , characteristics & applications of the different circuits such as Oscillators , Function generators , Voltage Regulators , Arithmetic Circuits (Adders, Subtractors, comparators) etc. This laboratory is aimed to inculcate basic applications with basic components like a diode, Transistor, simple IC'S etc.,. At third year level of engineering in ECE, each student must have some idea about these basic components. Hence the curriculum is developed with the combination of passive and active components. After learning the combination of only passive components like RC-High pass and RC low pass circuit, each student will certainly get the feel of communication process by identifying time and frequency responses with theoretical base. After identifying linear variations with passive elements, the combination with active element is also verified and hence every student can get the feel of nonlinear nature of electronic components even if linear elements are present in the same circuit. The different circuits like multi vibrators & timing circuits are verified because they have no. of applications in Communication Engineering. Finally after the completion of this laboratory, each student will get good confidence in dealing any electronic circuit. The knowledge of LICA lab will help the students to develop and build different Electronic circuits / Electronic projects which will be used in Home Appliances, Industrial Applications.
